Keep the care-package choice separate from the Butcher encounter. A developer explicitly confirmed that the Butcher and Eleanor are unrelated; that scene alone does not tell you her fate.

This page separates a direct developer clarification from reports about particular playthroughs. It is not a complete all-endings walkthrough.
If you want to compare a decision, first check your saved-day settings and preserve a save through the game’s available controls. Note the visit, your choice and the follow-up; a later scene may not be caused by the event immediately before it.
Care package and the Butcher: story details

In the original release thread, one player reported that delivering the package led to Eleanor being arrested. The same player described a different path in which feeding her led to scavenging, then assumed the Butcher’s later belongings were hers.
Questing Goose Studio corrected that interpretation: the Butcher scene is not connected to Eleanor, and the belongings are from another person in the abandoned levels. Do not turn the player’s original assumption into a supposed failed rescue route.

Follow the next event, not a guessed day count
Track the actual dialogue in your save. This page does not assign a fixed day to Eleanor’s return or claim a guaranteed best choice across difficulties and versions.
When comparing two playthroughs, separate food given, package handling and later encounters. A useful report includes those actions rather than only saying that a character stopped visiting.
Common questions
Are Eleanor and the Butcher connected?
The developer says they are not. The later bag and diary should not be used as proof of Eleanor’s fate.
Can I safely follow an old Demo Eleanor guide?
The release discussion describes a care package that the player did not have in the Demo. Compare the version and actual dialogue before copying an older route.
