Probably Stolen Food Stamps: Counterfeits & Selling
Inspect a stamp before paying for it. The handbook lists specific denominations and requires a security seal from 160 Credits upward. Genuine stamps redeem for Commissary Tokens; counterfeits do not.

Inspect before you buy

Use the Magnifying Glass
Read the printed stamp itself. A displayed Genuine label is a claim, not a completed inspection.

Pair the value with the seal
A low-value stamp without a seal is not automatically fake. Apply the threshold before judging the other features.

Compare text, logo and chip
Check the real handbook’s examples. It warns about missing or damaged chip parts; do not present that warning as an independently tested redemption edge case.

Confront only a visible defect
Select the actual problem you can identify before completing the trade. A wrong accusation can cost reputation.
Redeeming genuine stamps
Visit the Commissary after hours. The reference describes double-clicking a stamp or using the valid-stamp redemption action. Check the Token balance, which is separate from cash.
The number printed on the stamp is its redeemable amount, not necessarily the counter price you should pay. Compare that benefit with the deal in front of you.
Can you sell a counterfeit Food Stamp?
A fake does not deliver its face value at the Commissary. Historical Steam replies discuss resale, but they conflict and do not establish a guaranteed current buyer.
The label reference also says an already exposed counterfeit does not regain value simply by being relabelled Genuine. Do not buy a fake on the assumption that one label change guarantees a profitable sale.
Common questions
Is a 120-Credit Food Stamp without a seal fake?
Not for that reason alone. The handbook expects the high-value seal only at 160 Credits and above. Check the remaining features.
Why did a stamp disappear after I double-clicked it?
Check your Commissary Token balance and any counterfeit result. Redemption and cash sales are different actions.
Can I rely on an old guide naming one buyer for all fake stamps?
The historical player replies disagree. This page does not promise universal resale acceptance in the release.
